Guide for Reviewers
Guide for Reviewers
Responsibilities of reviewers towards authors and editors are highlighted by the Council of Science Editors as contained here. Thus, reviewers are expected to adhere to those recommendations.
Summarisingly, the following steps should be followed by the reviewers to fast-track the review process.
- Read the title of the manuscript
- Ascertain whether the Abstract has adequately captured the essence of the work
- Read the entire manuscript
- If you are satisfied that the work is reasonable and contains genuine scientific contribution, proceed with the review of each section
- Do not attempt to recast or rephrase significant parts of the manuscript. But you may insert a few words or punctuations where necessary
- In a situation where you find the work extremely deficient, you should proceed with the writing of your report without necessarily wasting time on the review of each section
